Beach Suite
Plaster walls, polished concrete floors, a private outdoor shower under the breadfruit tree. Steps from the lagoon-side beach.
Vaadhoo Island, Raa Atoll, Maldives
Twelve overwater villas and two beach suites, each with private deck and direct lagoon access. Open-air dining, a reef-aligned house spa, and a sunset dhoni that departs every evening at 18:00.
The Lodge
Vaadhoo sits at the south of Raa Atoll, two hours by speedboat from the capital or thirty minutes by seaplane. The lagoon hosts what marine biologists call Lingulodinium polyedra — bioluminescent plankton that light the shoreline blue on still nights between June and October.
The lodge has fourteen villas. There is no swimming pool, no shopping arcade, no nightclub. There is the reef, the lagoon, the boat, the house spa, and the dining pavilion. That is the entire offer.

Each room and villa has been designed for the climate, the view, and the rhythm of the place — every one of them quietly different from the next.
Plaster walls, polished concrete floors, a private outdoor shower under the breadfruit tree. Steps from the lagoon-side beach.
Cantilevered over the reef shelf. Glass floor panel above a coral garden, ladder into the lagoon, hammock strung over the water.
Everything in the standard overwater villa plus a 4 m freshwater plunge pool on the deck and an outdoor day bed shaded by sailcloth.
Family or small-group overwater. Two bedrooms, separate sitting room, lagoon-facing terrace with seating for six. Includes butler service.
Dining
One dining pavilion. Open at the sides, the breeze through it from the lagoon. The kitchen pulls from the reef in the morning — yellowfin, bonito, octopus, reef snapper — and from the kitchen garden the rest of the day.
Breakfast laid out from 07:00. Lunch is à la carte from 12:30. Dinner is a single tasting menu served at 19:30 — six courses, the dishes drawn from what the boats brought in. Wine pairing from a list curated around Burgundy and the Loire.
— Chef Imran, Head of Kitchen since 2019

Our Story
Vaadhoo Reef was opened in 2018 by a Maldivian-Sri Lankan couple and their daughter. The first three villas were built from local breadfruit and coconut palm; the rest were added over the four years that followed.
Today the property is still owner-operated. Mariyam runs the kitchen garden and the spa programme. Ahmed runs the dive school and the boat. Their daughter Lily, twelve at opening and now twenty, runs reservations and lives on the island year-round.
Owned and operated by the Hussein family since 2018
